A research team specializing in plant diversity from the Center of Desert Studies conducted an intensive scientific field trip in Wadi al-Ghadf and its surrounding areas over the course of Thursday and Friday, April 17-18, 2025. The trip covered areas extending from (Kilometer 35 area), passing through (Kilometer 90 area), to (Kilometer 160 area), west of Ramadi, deep in the western desert of Iraq.
This trip aimed to survey the vegetation cover and document various wild species, with a focus on medicinal, aromatic, poisonous, and pastoral species.
87 wild plant species were collected, including 12 new species, and the University of Anbar herbarium was enhanced with dried and preserved samples.
