The Desert Studies Center participated in the scientific symposium (Desertification in the Arab World: Realistic Challenges and Promising Opportunities for Reclamation) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The symposium was jointly organized by the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, the Institute of Arid Zones in Tunisia, and the Association of Desertification Research Centers in the Arab Region.
The symposium aimed to shed light on the environmental reality in the Arab region, exchange scientific expertise in combating desertification, and promote sustainable reclamation methods.
The Desert Studies Center participated by presenting two scientific lectures, delivered by:
1. Professor Dr. Nihad Mohammad Abod, entitled "The Strategic Role of the Desert Studies Center in Developing Desert Environments and Combating Desertification"
2. Professor Dr. Mohammad Uthman Musa, entitled "Oases and Reserves in the Western Desert of Iraq: Integrative Visions Towards Sustainable Development"
The administration of the Desert Studies Center affirms its continued active participation in regional and international scientific platforms, based on the University of Anbar's vision of serving the environment and sustainable development.
