Following the directives of the Director of the Desert Studies Center, Prof. Dr. Nihad Mohammad Abod, researchers from the Desert Studies Center at Anbar University conducted a field awareness activity on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Maaref University. The activity was part of a campaign titled: "Together Against Drugs... For a Land Without Narcotic Plants and a Safe Society."

The researchers were received by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ibtisam Taher Al-Abousi, the Assistant Dean, Prof. Dr. Abdul Salam Qahtan Ahmed, and several faculty members.

This activity was part of a field campaign aimed at spreading health and environmental awareness among students and educating the university community about the dangers of drug abuse and the impact of narcotic plants on the environment and humans. The center's researchers and some college students distributed awareness brochures rich in images and information, covering:

Narcotic plants common in the Iraqi environment, such as datura and poppy, types of drugs and their effects on the nervous system, symptoms and stages of addiction, and several other important pieces of information.

This activity is part of the Desert Studies Center's programs to support environmental and health education and engage with priority community issues.
