National Cotton Development Program

In line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of the University of Anbar/Desert Studies Center, two cotton cultivation projects were launched to develop varieties resistant to salinity and drought.

Implementation of these two projects began during the 2025 agricultural season, with the participation of specialists from the Desert Studies Center. A scientific work plan was developed for both projects, and germination rates were reported to be very promising under experimental conditions.

These efforts are expected to lead to the development of climate- and salinity-resistant cotton varieties, contributing to sustainable agricultural solutions.
